Galveston Residents Who Insisted on Staying Died in Ike's Path
The story above won't be there long. It is an Associated Press article on FoxNews.com.
Some of the missing from Galveston Island may have been blown across Galveston Bay
into Chambers County. Also some of the missing were probably swept out to sea.
Bridge City, Texas, a small town on the Gulf coast across Rainbow Bridge from
Jefferson County Texas, was hit very hard by the storm surge and is in dire need
of help. The news media is just not covering this hurricane like they need to be.
People are not getting the help so many people think that they are getting.
Donations are not coming in like they were for hurricane Katrina and Ike did
more damage than Katrina did. Homes, cars, trucks, you name it, totally demolished
by the storm surge, 2, 4, 6 feet of salt water and marsh sludge in the homes,
in their vehicles, in storage sheds, memories washed away and no real help.
Insurance companies say, this was not caused by a flood. The water damages were
caused by wind and a surge, not a flood, help is limited. We can't help with
water damages.
