Earl B. Boyanton, a native of Port Arthur and a 1958 Graduate
of Thomas Jefferson High School, has been named one of DC Velocity
Magazine's The News /Sunday, August 10, 2008 "Rainmakers," for his
standard of excellence in leadership in his work at The Department
of Defense. Boyanton's title is Assistant Deputy Under Secretary of
Defense for Transportation Policy. According to DC Velocity's citation,
Boyanton "has oversight responsibility for the biggest transportation
organization in the world." The magazine annually selects 12 professionals
from the distribution and related industries, based upon their lasting
contributions to the logistics field. These men are the "thought leaders"
of the profession, and come from all areas of distribution.
Earl Boyanton's background is military; he is a retired Air Force Colonel.
Earl Boyanton was a member of the All-District offense that took the Port
Arthur Thomas Jefferson High School Yellow Jackets to the State Final game
in 1957.
After high school, Earl went to The University of Texas at Austin, where
he earned his MBA and received the Dean's Award for Academic Excellence.
He and his wife, Penny, have four grown children, and eight grandchildren.
